Perumani

Perumani (2024) is directed by K. B. Maju (mononymously known as Maju) starring Sunny Wayne, Vinay Fort, Lukman, Deepa Thomas, Vijilesh Karayad, Radhika Radhakrishnan, Navas Vallikkunnu, Franco Francis and Amal Rajdev. 

Perumani: The Movie

The movie is set in a fictional place called "Perumani". The story starts with a folk tale or rather a myth, which the Perumanians believe in. The movie has a satirical and a humour touch on every scene. The plot takes a twirl when a stranger comes to Perumani. 

The movie is set in a place lushes with greenery. The color palette of this movie is commendable and is a treat for your eyes. The houses, costumes and even vehicles have been spread with this unique color palatte. The people of Perumani are distant from the outer world and their reality is different. Their issues are different from the rest of the world. However, it subtly talks about some underlying issues that a typical village will ponder on for days. It is undeniable that in real life there are people who can make a cow out of a rat and still live like it is normal.

The Costumes

The Costumes in this movie is commendable as stated before. The moustaches of male characters are peculiar. Their teeth have either gold or silver in it. The "Mundu" worn  by male characters do not have a partition in it. The female characters and their dress code, including the "Thattam" style is interesting. Except for Lukman's charcater everyone has a different style that of the real world. Lukman's character uses typical clothes, but a little vibrant. 

My Opinion

I extremely loved the movie. The theatre was blasting with laughs and I laughed so much that I lost my sense that I was in public. Each and every dialogue, every scene has something to crack you up. It definitely is a movie which we can re-watch it. If I had a chance to watch it again on the big screen, I would.

All of the characters have their own special place in the movie and also in my mind. Even the supporting characters were hilarious. This movie is an absolute must watch for everyone. I have been waiting for such a movie for a long time and has been watching movies from other languages to fulfill my thirst. But now that I have one to watch again, I hope it comes to the streaming platforms as fast as it can.

Premalu

Premalu is a contemporary romantic movie directed by Girish A.D, starring Mamitha Baiju, Nasleen K.  Gafoor, Sangeeth Pratap, Akhila Bharghavan, Shyam Mohan, Althaf Salim, Meenakshi Raveendran, Mathew Thomas etc. The movie is produced by Bhavana Studios. Rajesh Murugesan has composed the songs for Premalu.  Premalu: The Movie The movie revolves around a bunch of young adults, who live in Hyderabad city. Nasleen K. Gafoor plays the centre character with Mamitha Baiju. The movie shows the issues of young adults and how they navigate from studies to work in their early twenties. Nasleen has portrayed Sachin and Mamitha has portrayed Reenu. Both of them meet in a wedding ceremony coincidentally. Sachin immediately falls in love with Reenu. However, Reenu has a secret admirer in her office, called Adhi. This character has been fabulously portrayed by Shyam Mohan.
