Mohiniyattam, as the name suggests, its the story of Mohini. The prequel, "Bharatanatyam" was the story of Bharathan and we all know how the prequel entertained us. The sequel is funnier than the prequel.
The movie is 2026 movie directed by Krishnadas Murali. The starring includes Kalaranjini, Suraj Venjaranmoodu, Jagadish, Saiju Kurup, Vinay Fort, Sreeja Ravi, Vijay Babu, Santhosh K. Nayar, Balachandran Chullikkad, Divya M. Nair, Sruthy Suresh, Nandu Poduval, Nisthar Sait, Jinil Rex, Jivin Rex, Swathidas Prabhu, Sreerekha Rajagopal, Salim Hassan and finally Habish Rahman (Baby Jean).
The plot:
This movie is a dark comedy. The first part ends on Bharatan Nair's death. There is a dialogue where, Kalaranjini asks Sai Kumar (rhetorical), and this sequel kind of roots from there. Suraj Venjaranmoodu's entry changed the entire premise of the movie. The movie revolves around various past issues which later became severe problems to solve, and these included Bharatan Nair, who is now dead. Habish Rahman aka Baby Jean has shown a different style of acting along with dialogue delivery. The popular opinion is that he has scored well in this movie. Vinay Fort as usual has perfectly done his role and his entry has really made us laugh out loud.
The music and dialogues:
The music and dialogues of this movie has references to multiple malayalam films. As a person who is major movie head, I really enjoyed these paraodies. The music is done by Electronic Kili and I am a huge fan of the same.
My opinion:
It is a must watch entertainer. The dark comedy in this movie has expressed in a subtle but open way. This movie can be classified as a family entertainer. It's even wonderful to enjoy this movie alone as well. For those people who feel nostalgic when see Kalyanaraman, this movie will eventually become nostalgia for the small kids now, in their future.
